Since its founding, Lake Forest College has benefited from the generosity of alumni and friends. Many donors choose to designate their gifts to scholarship by establishing an endowed scholarship fund. Each year, scholarship support makes a direct impact on our ability to attract top students and provide essential financial aid.

One such example, the Lee Howard Siegel '85 Scholarship, supports History majors with demonstrated financial need. Lee Siegel majored in American Studies at Lake Forest and established this scholarship through his estate. Recent recipients of the Siegel Scholarship include Vitoria Andrade Carnier '23 and Mark Bogley '22.

When Vitoria Andrade Carnier '23 of Brazil was starting her college search, she made a list of everything that she considered important in a college: a low student-to-faculty ratio, a vibrant international community, good financial aid, and a great location. When she learned about Lake Forest College, she was amazed to find everything she was looking for in one place. The College's strong financial aid program was the final piece in Vitoria's decision to choose Lake Forest. "When I was growing up, I never imagined I would one day be in the United States for college. I always loved learning and really wanted to go abroad to study and broaden my understanding of the world, but it was way too far from my reality. This scholarship is helping make my dream come true."

Mark Bogley '22 of Walla Walla, Washington, chose the College based on the size and beauty of campus and its proximity to both Chicago and Lake Michigan. One of his favorite memories is his morning skateboard rides to Lake Forest beach. In addition to his History major, Mark minored in Theater and took advantage of many extra curriculars during his time on campus - including WMXM, Jazz Band, and theater productions. "WMXM is my spot! I hosted a show with my best friend, and it was a great way for us to take our minds off of whatever we had going on and just enjoy music." He was also honored to be named a Gummere Fellow, a student ambassador for Admissions and Alumni Relations programs. "Receiving this scholarship has inspired me to continue to work hard and support others in my community. I plan to support students in their goals, just as this scholarship has for me."

Endowed scholarship funds provide the College with a sustainable source of support to recruit talented students like Mark and Vitoria.
