What is your major and/or minor? History

What attracted you to Lake Forest College? Why did you choose to become a Forester? I chose to become a Forester because of the close proximity to downtown Chicago and my overnight stay with an Ambassador! I felt comfortable walking around campus and was able to envision myself spending four years in Lake Forest. On a small note, I think we're very lucky to be so close to one of the Great Lakes!

What are you most looking forward to this academic year? I'm looking forward to my Museums and Exhibitions class in the spring semester. I think it will involve some field study at museums in the area! I'm also taking a twentieth-century art class that will align with some of the other history classes that I've been taking.

What has been your favorite class so far and why? One of my favorite classes I've taken so far was Twentieth-Century Literature with Professor Goluboff. I'm not an English major but I really enjoyed the class, and it got me into Jack Kerouac and Theodore Dreiser. Professor Goluboff was my first-year advisor, and I've always appreciated our talks because he takes me seriously, which I feel is important for young people around my age.

Have you participated in any research projects or are you interested in doing a study abroad program or the college's In The Loop Chicago Program? I was supposed to do In The Loop Program in the city, but the pandemic changed my plans.

Do you plan on participating in any athletics, intramurals, or clubs? I'm currently in WMXM Radio, Jazz Band, Theater productions, and I'm a Gummere Fellow.

After graduating from Lake Forest College, what do you hope to accomplish? I'd like to put the skills that I've honed during my time at LFC to work for a company that shares the same values as me. As of late, I've been looking into the music streaming business as well as sales.

What is your favorite spot on campus to take a break and relax? The radio station is my spot! I always look forward to going to the station, finding new music, and curating a playlist. I host a show with my best friend, and it is a great way for us to take our minds off whatever we have going on and just enjoy music.

What are some of your interests outside of studies? I love playing music, specifically jazz! The jazz band here allows for me to make music and still have time to focus on my academics. I also enjoy skateboarding and have made countless morning skateboard rides to the beach on Lake Michigan.

Share something that you are proud of or are really good at. I'm really proud of my involvement with the theater department and our ability to make the most out of the resources that we have. I feel like we have all put in a lot of effort to create a program that allows students to follow their artistic vision and find others who will support them!

Thank you for your great generosity!

Not only does your donation assist me, it also allows me to help forward the College's mission. I'm a history major with a theater minor, and your support allows me to pursue my passions in both areas! For the future I plan on working either in the music promotion business or at a museum! It means a lot to me and other students to know that we have a supportive community.

Your generosity has inspired me to continue to work hard and support others in my community. I plan to support students as they achieve their goals, just as you have for me.

Sincerely, Mark Bogley Class of 2022
